The rail trench situated between Via Sempione and Via Gottardo was once the railway connection between the main line (to Milan) and Vanchiglia freight yard. Abandoned for a long time, it is now a wreckage zone.
The project involves the creation of a tree-lined avenue to connect the surrounding areas. Along the route, three elevated stations for Line 2 will be built, along with new trees, bike lanes, and pedestrian paths. Road connections will be maintained, but bridges incompatible with the construction will be demolished. Play areas, fitness spaces, dog areas, sports and socializing spaces are also planned.
