With the approval of the final project on 30th June 2020, the works regarding Sangone Park will be completed. This financed operation is part of the environmental strategic plan linked to Gerbido incinerator. The plot where the works will be carried out lies on Sangone river left bank, in the southern part of the city bordering with the municipality of Nichelino. The planned works include the creation of a park in the area between Corso Unione Sovietica bridge and Bela Rusin Mausoleum in Strada Castello di Mirafiori, a stretch that had not been redeveloped yet.
The interventions include the removal of contaminated materials, the clearance of informal allotments, new tree and vegetation planting, the installation of urban furniture such as tables and benches, the construction of a 27-space car park, and the creation of cycle–pedestrian paths, which will connect the area to the existing cycle–pedestrian footbridge over the river, extending as far as the Stupinigi Hunting Lodge.
