The project for the new alignment of Tram Line 12 is structured into two main sections.
The Southern section (Corso Lepanto – Corso Giulio Cesare), largely developed along an existing tramway infrastructure, will connect the central-southern sector of the city (Corso Lepanto, Corso Re Umberto, Corso Stati Uniti, Via Sacchi) with the city centre and Corso Giulio Cesare.
The Northern section (Corso Giulio Cesare – Allianz Stadium) will make extensive use of the Torino–Ceres railway line (reopened in January 2024) between Porta Milano and Madonna di Campagna, integrating with Corso Grosseto and terminating at the Allianz Stadium. The interconnection of the Torino–Ceres line with the RFI network at Rebaudengo has enabled the decommissioning of the infrastructure between Dora Station and Largo Grosseto.
In 2025, a route variant was introduced, eliminating the reuse of the former railway tunnel between Madonna di Campagna and Dora, in favour of a more linear and economically sustainable surface alignment. The new corridor will be approximately 5.5 km long, with 12 planned stops.
