The “ex FIAT Grandi Motori” complex is an important disused industrial area, largely abandoned due to the gradual decline of production starting in the 1980s. The entire complex, traversed by Via Cuneo, is located between Corso Novara, Corso Vercelli, and Via Pinerolo and Via Damiano.
The redevelopment project for the former OGM – Officine Grandi Motori, a 72,000 sqm abandoned area in the Aurora district, between Corso Vigevano, Via Cuneo, Via Damiano, and Corso Vercelli, includes the creation of a mixed-use development featuring a green park of approximately 15,000 sqm of private property, open to the public. It will also include two commercial areas (located in the “Basilica” and “Lingottino,” valuable buildings protected by the Superintendency of Architectural Heritage), residential buildings, a student residence that can accommodate 250-300 university students (on the upper floors of the Lingottino), and a logistics hub, potentially used for e-commerce.
The area under this major redevelopment plan for the northern part of the city is almost entirely privately owned, except for a portion of approximately 3,800 sqm (between Corso Vercelli and Via Cuneo) which belongs to the City.
