In June 2020 the City Council decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between Città di Torino, Università degli Studi and Politecnico for the urban, environmental and structural redevelopment of the ex-Combi area. This area is situated in the Olympic district which is currently being used, though in a limited way, as a car park by the university and for the events held in the neighbouring arenas, but also as temporary storage of the safety barriers deployed during the football matches played in the nearby Olympic Stadium. New spaces will be created in the ex-Combi area for students and citizens, providing rest and relaxation areas, sporting facilities and a Student Zone with classrooms, a kiosk/bar and other leisure activities.
