The ex- M.Ar.Di.Chi. barracks, once used as artillery and chemical defence weapon storage house, is along Via Bologna axis and is surrounded by via Bologna, piazza Croce Rossa, via Monteverdi, and via Cimarosa. The barracks, currently not used, from the early 20th century were the headquarters of the Torino-based woollen mill Lanificio F.lli Piacenza. The complex is part of several dismissed barracks whose re-use and conversion is currently being debated. Recently a proposal has been put forward about the recovery of the existing buildings for museum, exhibition, craft and hospitality activities. Conventional and urban planning/building assessments are in progress to verify the operation feasibility. The general regulatory plan envisages for these areas the preservation of the existing buildings, instead of implementing radical transformations.
