In the mid-1970s the Torino-based paper mills Cartiere BURGO decided to build its new headquarters in San Mauro Torinese. The former BURGO building, designed in 1977 by architect Oscar Niemeyer, has a ring-shaped suspended structure covering a 6000-sqm surface consisting of concentric rings. The circular layout is on three levels: one underground where the technological centre, the meeting room and the canteen are located, and two levels for offices and management. Four wings branch off from the hall and through the garden lead to the office outer ring, pierced by vertical windows. The hall is surrounded by oval decorated glazing overlooking the garden. The truncated-conical volume of the management offices lies on the top floor.
