The Campus of Sciences and the Environment is the University of Turin’s hub dedicated to education and research in the fields of green chemistry, environment, agrifood, animal health, renewable energy, circular economy, bioeconomy, and advanced materials. Here, in addition to the existing Departments of Agricultural, Forestry, Food Sciences, and Veterinary Sciences, new departments of Chemistry, Life Sciences, and Systems Biology will be established, covering an area of more than 228,000 sqm, adding to the 300,000 sqm already in place. Teaching and research will be distributed across two separate buildings, while an additional 50,000 sqm will be dedicated to the Butterfly Area, a space for research, training, and collaboration with the business world to foster the economic growth of the area.
A core principle of the project is the integration of the Campus’s green spaces with the large public park adjacent to it: 90,000 sqm of additional urban green space, with 350 tall trees and 3,300 shrub plants.
The project also includes the construction of a pedestrian bridge over the railway, access roads, and the expansion of the cycling path network.
