Since the 1950s this site, a strategic place for Grugliasco and the whole metropolitan area of Torino, has made the history of the car industry. Through a public procedure in 2019, Leva S.p.A., Febametal S.p.A. and Sargomma S.r.l. acquired the area for over 3,400,000 euros from Finpiemonte Partecipazioni, through Sit (an investment and territory development company).

The initial objective was the redevelopment of the industrial site through the establishment of new productive facilities and the recovery of part of the existing buildings. In 2023, construction works began for the new Sargomma headquarters, dedicated to sustainable production and innovation in rubber materials, a project supported by Intesa Sanpaolo.

Subsequently, in 2025, the ownership put the entire area up for sale, subdivided into three lots. Among the proposed options is the development of a data centre. Negotiations are still ongoing and are based on feasibility studies concerning the availability of electricity and water, which are essential resources for this type of infrastructure.
Even if the data centre project were to be confirmed, Sargomma’s activities could remain operational within the site.
