The building, designed by engineer Carlo Sgarbi in 1920 and opened in 1923, until the end of the 20th century was occupied by Hospital Luigi Einaudi, formerly Martini reception ward. It has no longer been used since 2003.
The project, funded by the PNRR, involves the construction of a Territorial Operations Center (COT), responsible for coordinating home care services with healthcare and social assistance services.
By March 2026, the outpatient clinic currently located in Via del Ridotto will be relocated within the former Astanteria, giving rise to the new Community Health Centre (Casa di Comunità).
