The Regional Mobility Plan has set medium and long-term goals and strategies to extend the network and technological infrastructures of the Metropolitan Railway System.

The strengthening actions required in Torino and the first belt suburbs include the opening of the following stations: S. Paolo (n183), Borgata Quaglia-Gru (n186) and S. Luigi (n187), besides the creation of the new stops Dora (n184) and Zappata (n185). Moreover, the construction of Grosseto station (n188) is about to be completed.

ZAPPATA RAILWAY STATION
Zappata railway station is situated between corso Pascoli and corso Galileo Ferraris, in the stretch comprised between Lingotto and Porta Susa railway stations. The project, financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan funds (measure 1.5), envisages the station architectural completion and the construction of an underground station on three levels (pedestrian accesses, technical mezzanine and tracks). On the higher level, there is the tunnel of the future direct line between Porta Susa and Porta Nuova railway stations, to speed up and distribute the traffic between the two stations.
