On May 23rd a violent cloudburst destroys the uppermost 47 m of Mole Antonelliana pinnacle. The works for its reconstruction and reinforcement are carried out between 1955 and 1960. The new star is no longer five-pointed, but 12-pointed and is produced by Officine Savigliano. In 1964, Mole Antonelliana will be provided with a lift connecting the ground floor to the dome “tempietto”.
