Start of Vallette neighbourhood construction. It is one of the greatest outcomes in Torino of the second 7-year cycle of Ina-Casa, the Italian state public residential housing plan. Conceived to be self-sufficient, the neighbourhood will be lying on a surface of around 71 hectares with the creation of over 16,000 rooms. Architect Gino Levi Montalcini coordinates the design team which gathers the most famous experts of that time and implements different types of action on large lots with services and public greenery, where the goals is to apply advanced research to workers’ and social housing.
