Law no. 167/1962 is passed. It favours the acquisition of large state properties in the outskirts to be used for low-cost housing. In this period several subsidized housing neighbourhoods are created in Torino to meet the great housing needs of immigrant factory workers: from the 768 rooms built in Mirafiori Sud (1961) in the prefabricated buildings rigidly arranged according to the layout by Mario Federico Roggero, Emilio Giay, Ugo Mesturino, to the 3,561 rooms in 652 apartments of the IACP blocks in corso Taranto (Nello Renacco, 1965-1966).
