On February 4th the first Collegno-XVIII dicembre stretch of metro line 1 is opened, after a long history of failed attempts for the construction of Torino underground. The first project for an underground transport system dates back to the 1930s, when the big road works for the reconstruction of the new via Roma were carried out (whose underground area was already set up for the metro transit).
