Intesa SanPaolo

After a fierce debate by the public opinion on the appropriateness of building skyscrapers in a city with such a peculiar skyline, the Centro direzionale Intesa Sanpaolo is opened in corso Inghilterra. The glazed tower, based on the principles of sustainability, transparency and environmental quality, is designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop. The project, winner of the international invited competition announced by the bank in 2006, initially envisages a height of 200 m, then reduced to slightly more than 160 m after a long negotiation between the skyscraper supporters and opponents. It includes offices for around 2,000 employees (clerks and managers), in addition to different services partly accessible by the public.
