Cavallerizza

The Cavallerizza complex, designed by architect Benedetto Alfieri to perform equestrian exercises, was designated as a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1997. The current administration has started its transformation with two main objectives: A. increase the spaces directly owned by the City (and therefore by the citizens) and the spaces not owned by the City but subject to constraints; B. create a cultural pole for artistic production and use, temporary residence and the promotion of synergies with national and international cultural bodies. The Ministry for Cultural Heritage expressed its interest in promoting this complex by allocating 5 million euros. For the co-management of the cultural project regarding the areas with public functions, a “permanent committee” will be set up, consisting of all the involved stakeholders and coordinated by Comune di Torino, with the goal of summarizing “bottom-up” proposals .
