Torino is a city with a strong university vocation: nearly 110,000 university students, with around 30% away from home, 7 main poles, 15 university residence halls, 2 incubators and a top level scientific research. To support such a vocation, the project Torino Città Universitaria has been developed by Città di Torino to promote several actions and policies improving services dedicated to the university. Among these: identification of specific investors for the creation of connected and accessible residential areas with leisure facilities and meeting places, green areas for sport, innovative and quality shopping services; the promotion of cultural initiatives for young students; the creation of new spaces for aggregation; the development of infrastructures for a comfortable and efficient collective mobility; the strengthening of soft and sustainable mobility; campaigns for raising awareness on active and sustainable lifestyles; incentives for local shops and new forms of socialization, in contexts tailored for students; creation of new pedestrian areas with eateries offering a more informal and cozy atmosphere .
