The bombing, started between 11<sup>th<\/sup> and 12<sup>th<\/sup> June 1940 and culminated between winter 1942 and summer 1943, destroyed not only the productive suburbs, but also the more central areas.<\/p>\n<p>There are:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>689,900 inhabitants<\/p>\n<p>6,820 bombs (582 unexploded)<\/p>\n<p>Destroyed or damaged buildings:<\/p>\n<p>9,871 out of 23,280<\/p>\n<p>335 collective buildings<\/p>\n<p>29 churches<\/p>\n<p>8,814 offices and firms<\/p>\n<p>10,420 shops<\/p>\n<p>1,108 factories<\/p>\n<p>7,523 service buildings<\/p>\n<p>(Statistical Yearbook Citt\u00e0 di Torino, 1946)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The restart of production is slow. Normality is restored only at the end of the \u201840s, when the pre-war indexes are reached.
