Part of a former industrial complex exceeding 300,000 square metres, composed of three lots (TNE A, TNE B, TNE C) and belonging to the Torino Nuova Economia (TNE) development company, established in 2005 by the Piedmont Region, Province of Turin, City of Turin, and Fiat S.p.A. to implement one of the objectives of the Memorandum of Understanding aimed at maintaining a productive activities hub in the Mirafiori area.
In 2024, the first phase of redevelopment was completed with the establishment of the new Design Centre of the Politecnico di Torino. The remaining portions of the lots are still available and are intended to host the Manufacturing Technology Center (MTC), technology transfer projects between companies and universities, business incubators, startup spaces, and developable plots for new enterprises and services.
In October 2025, the Detailed Implementation Plan (Piano Esecutivo Convenzionato) for the western lot of the Design and Sustainable Mobility Citadel was approved. The plan provides for the development of new infrastructure and services supporting industrial, artisanal, and tertiary activities, including parking facilities, new internal road infrastructure, public spaces, pedestrian and cycle paths, and equipped green areas.
