The conversion of the historic Manifattura Tabacchi will enable the redevelopment of the whole neighbourhood situated in Torino’s north- eastern area and the readaptation of the existing green areas.
A Cultural Hub will be created in the recovered areas, with university halls of residence, student facilities and training classrooms, as well as an Archives Hub with reading rooms, a study centre and a repository for the State Archives belonging to the Directorate General of the Archives of Torino, Asti, Biella, Cuneo and Verbania, and of the Ministries of Culture and Justice. The residential areas will be used for the creation of an inter-university campus.
The ambitious operation, that will redesign a part of Torino, will be implemented also thanks to the resources allocated by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and the programme Next Generation EU.
