The metro line 2 will make it easier to cross the city along its main north-east/south-west development axis. The trains will be automated to minimize waiting times and increase the service in every time slot. The “Y” layout of line 2 will connect 32 stations along a 27-km route subdivided into three main stretches: a central one, 16 km long with 23 stations, starting from Rebaudengo to Anselmetti; the extension south-bound from Anselmetti station to Orbassano, with 5 stations connected along 6 km; the extension north-bound of the same length which, with 4 stations, will reach Pescarito/San Mauro. The infrastructure will strengthen the connection of the main city poles, including FCA Mirafiori plant, the university headquarters of Campus Einaudi and Politecnico di Torino, the city centre and Giovanni Bosco hospital. Line 2 will integrate the existing public transport service thanks to three intermodal terminals: stations Zappata and Rebaudengo will be connected with SFM, the metropolitan railway system, while Porta Nuova railway station, the main intermodal pole, will be connected also to metro line 1. In addition three park & ride areas will improve transport intermodality in the stations of Orbassano, Anselmetti and San Mauro.
