The Regional Mobility Plan has set medium and long-term goals and strategies to extend the network and technological infrastructures of the Metropolitan Railway System.
The infrastructure enhancement measures concern the new SFM5 line, which will run from Torino Stura to San Luigi di Orbassano. This line will therefore connect the already operational stations of Torino Stura, Rebaudengo–Fossata, and Porta Susa with the new stations of San Paolo (n183), Borgata Quaglia–Gru (n186), and San Luigi di Orbassano (n187).
As part of the broader strengthening of the Metropolitan Railway System, the construction of the new Dora (n184) and Zappata (n185) stops is also planned, while the Torino Grosseto station was completed in 2024.
SAN PAOLO FS RAILWAY STATION
Situated between corso Trapani, Corso Siracusa and via Tirreno, the project for San Paolo station envisages the creation of an island platform near the tracks which can be reached from different points through footbridges and vertical connections. At less than 100 metres from the station, a parking area will be created with around 100 parking spaces. The project is financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan funds (measure 1.5).
