The Regional Mobility Plan has set medium and long-term goals and strategies to extend the network and technological infrastructures of the Metropolitan Railway System.
The infrastructure enhancement measures concern the new SFM5 line, which will run from Torino Stura to San Luigi di Orbassano. This line will therefore connect the already operational stations of Torino Stura, Rebaudengo–Fossata, and Porta Susa with the new stations of San Paolo (n183), Borgata Quaglia–Gru (n186), and San Luigi di Orbassano (n187).
As part of the broader strengthening of the Metropolitan Railway System, the construction of the new Dora (n184) and Zappata (n185) stops is also planned, while the Torino Grosseto station was completed in 2024.
QUAGLIA-GRU RAILWAY STATION
The project envisages the construction of two railway platforms located in a trench, at a depth of approximately six metres below street level. It also provides for the construction of a central bridge building that will accommodate passenger services. At the same time, the project includes the upgrading of the pedestrian underpass connecting Strada Antica di Grugliasco to Via La Thuile (Borgata Lesna), which is currently in poor condition.
