The stretch “Lingotto – Bengasi” of the metro line 1 is around 1.9 km long and originates from the end of Lingotto station with final terminal in piazza Bengasi and comprises two stations: “Italia 61”, under Via Nizza, and “Bengasi”, under the square with the same name. The route is completely underground, below Via Nizza up to via Sestriere, until reaching the beginning of the Municipality of Moncalieri. The creation of the final part of the tunnel allows the trains to reverse direction, thus ensuring a frequency every 69 seconds in the rush hour. The length of this stretch also allows the parking of 4 trains, ready to be used according to the flow of passengers. The final part of this line has been designed to enable the metro future extension to the municipalties of Nichelino and Moncalieri.The new stretch Collegno-Cascine Vica is the extension west-bound of Torino automated driverless metro line 1. The underground tunnel crosses the municipalities of Collegno and Rivoli, for an overall length of 3.4 km. Along the route, four new stations will be created: Certosa, Collegno Centro, Leumann and Cascine Vica. Certosa station will also allow intermodality with Collegno railway station, while in Cascine Vica a park & ride area will be created for private cars.
